| Benjamin Lake was a pupil at Richard Challoner Boys School, New Malden, where he became Head Chorister of the school choir. He regularly performed up and down the country taking in venues such as Norwich Cathedral and Westminster Abbey.
Being a keen actor, Benjamin was involved in all of the school's drama productions and annually toured Bupadest with Shakespeare and American plays.
After completing his A-levels, he won a place at London's prestigious Trinity College of Music, where, under his voice coach John Noble, he studied his craft. Whilst there, he took the lead roles in 'Beatrice Cenci' and 'Dialogue of the Carmelites', both to critical acclaim.
Benjamin travelled to the Buxton Opera House to take the lead role in 'Princess Ida' - Hillarion, in the annual Gilbert and Sullivan festival. Not knowing how to break the market, he tried his luck at the successful ITV prime time show Michael Barrymore's 'My Kind of Music'.
Within a week of the show airing he was asked by the Director/Producer of

the international dance sensation 'Spirit of the Dance' to perform as a solo artist in his hit show. For the next two and a half years Benjamin would perform all over Europe and America. During this time he was asked to open the England vs. Australia Rugby League 'Opening Ceremony' at Twickenham in front of 75,000 people. He was also asked to open the Basket Ball 'Interstate Championships' in Reno and supported by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, closed the show at the 'Bravo China 2000' concert at the Millennium Dome.
On returning to England, he was offered the role of Dwight/God, in the new box office smash 'Jerry Springer the Opera'. Opening at the Edinburgh Festival and subsequent runs at The National Theatre and West End, the show went from strength to strength, picking up theatres' most prized awards.
During this time he made his Royal Festival Hall debut and won the 'What's on Stage' award for the Best London Newcomer of the Year.
